Angel's Melody

A song that warms a heart so lovingly, a tune I call an Angel's Melody

Piano

My piano lessons started back when I was in the first grade at July 1 of that year. Back then it was hard for me to understand how to read the notes and all but now it's all good!

My first 4 months or so, I was still in Kinder level for piano. It was hard and my fingers won't move individually! They move together that I get stuck up in the warm-up alone! Now that I look back to it, it's pretty easy...

My next 6 months were my Preparatory days in piano. Yes, this time I could do better in my warm-up and I can move my fingers freely now. I also learned here about the sharps and flats. I was in this grade when I had my first piano recital. Too bad I forgot what my piece was on my first piano recital!

My next 5 months or around there, I was in Grade 1-A in piano. In here, it was the first time for me to try stretching my fingers to long distances, which are now distances I could say was very short!!! I'm already in the second grade in school by this time.

The next 4 months, I spent my Grade 1-B days! This was when I first encountered transferring my left hand to the right-hand side of the piano and vice versa.

At around the end of the month of Febuary when I was still in second grade in school, I was also promoted to second grade in piano. It was hard and I even thought I could never pass it and will be forever Grade 2 until I reach college in school! When April came, it was my second recital. My piece this year was Kondansoy.

I was in the third grade in school when my teacher in piano gave me multiple pieces. I was wondering what it was at first. But when April came, I figured I was to be a mini-recitalist. Recitalists have 5 solo pieces numbered from 1 - 5 and indifinite number of duet pieces, one of which will be numbered 6. It was my third recital. My pieces are the following:

  1. Etudes
  2. Beethoven's Symphony No. 5
  3. Serenade
  4. Bee and Clover
  5. Dandansoy (this is different from the kondansoy last time)

My fourth recital was in the fourth grade in school, my piece was Tico-Tico, and the fifth one when I was in the fifth grade in school in which my piece was The Love Theme from Aspen.

At last! December 2005, I was promoted to Third grade in piano. I was happy. But still too early to be celebrating. Though I was promoted, it means higher grades but at the same time, more difficulty!

July 2007 was when I got my promotion to the fourth grade in piano! But of my two third grade books, I only got promoted with one book while the other book remains as third grade.

At sixth grade in school, I had my sixth recital last April 2008 with my piece, Wasay-Wasay. I was so happy when last November 2008, the remaining third grade book has also been promoted to fourth grade!

I'm very glad to have reached this far. Last April 2009 with the piece Glissando Mazurka, I have finished my seventh piano recital.

I hope to become a premier recitalist by April 2010!!!!

Ballet

Let's see... well, I started taking ballet lessons around the same time as the Tae Kwon Do but around 3 months earlier. I started it by the end of school year 2002-2003. I had my first ballet recital during Defile 2004 last December 2004. The exact date, I forgot but it was either 17 or 19.

Starting from being Elementary I-A, I am now an Elementary IV pupil in ballet. We have already started using Toe shoes, or otherwise known as Pointe shoes, and we have also started Partnering.

Simply put it, it refers to the lifting and such other things related which require support from male dancers. I have already had gone through 4 ballet recitals. On the first recital, my dances were:

  • Blue Regiments in On Parade
  • Flowers in Nutcracker
My second recital was Defile 2006. My dances were:
  • Waltz in Tempi Variations
  • Gypsy!
Defile 2007 was on third recital. The following were my dances:
  • Bird in Snow Maiden

The fourth one was Defile 2008 last March 30, 2008. My dances were:

  • The Prayer
  • Serenade
  • Napoli: Pas de Six and Tarantelle

Last November 30, 2008, we had a concert. We presented the Full-length ballet of The Nutcracker with guest artists from Ballet Manila. In The Nutcracker, my parts were:
